A Hope Eternal...

Reading in Thessalonians 4 this evening I was struck by a thought about our hope in Christ’s return. My nature in hoping in that great hope we have as believers is so quickly defaulted to the hope of justice. I am too quick to be excited by the idea of the wicked getting their “due reward.” This is not what the hope in Christ’s return is to be about. More it is the hope we have in the fulfilled promise that on that day when Christ returns – all the world will be forced to acknowledge that there is one truth and one God – and on THAT day, Jesus will receive all the glory he is due. This is the hope we have in the return of Christ – the hope that the sinful off-balance of man’s natural state will be corrected and God will be seen as the most supreme by all men at one time.
